The photograph here shows Kriegsmarine Matrosen celebrating, as seen gathered collectively into a room drinking and playing music. The photograph shows Kriegsmarine Matrosen in their white summer fatigue tunics, standard issue uniform and Sportanzug, Sports-wear as seen by the seated left Matrose.

The seated left Matrose is seen wearing the Sportanzug, seen with a breast eagle, he plays a musical instrument seen here playing a Lute. This would be a private purchase item, likely brought from home to use at the front. Pastimes and hobbys espcially musical talents were very common by Soldaten across the Wehrmacht. Music unites Soldaten and boosts morale, singing and enjoying the music thats played. Such enjoyment can be seen to the right of him as the Matrose in white denim tunic can be seen smiling for the photograph. Seen to the right of him, a Gefreiter can be seen making a toast with a small glass of drink. Other Matrosen can be seen piling into shot to the right and the back.

The photograph is underexposed, this being due to the lack of light in the photo and thus casting darkness across the photo. The atmosphere of the can still be felt of this celebration. Matrosen can be seen in the background seated and standing as a part of this joyus party. Seen to the very back is a Reichskriegsflagge (Reichs Flag) seen draped across the back wall. Oddly a framed photo is placed in the centre of the Swastika. Just made out to be a framed photo of Adolf hitler. This photograph serving as a great reminder if a party enjoyed by all Matrosen seen here, possibly sent home too, showing family and loved ones what they are getting up to.
